Wow, after messing around with the chainsaw files for years and dreading sharpening them, I finally picked this up. I can literally go through a chain in 2-3 minutes with no learning curve. Unlike some of the expensive ones, you can sharpen the chain on the saw, so it's even quicker. I couldn't imagine a better way for the average guy to keep his saw sharp.

If you want an easy way to sharpen mower blades, and are a home user who only has to sharpen blades a few times a year this is a great option. If you're running a professional lawn care business, I would hope that it's obvious this isn't for you. A pro can justify spending much more money on a sharpener for mower blades. This rotary tool (aka Dremel tool) attachment works well for someone who only needs to do this a few times a year. It's much quicker than using a file, or one of the pull along manual specialty sharpeners. And while you can do this "free hand" with just the Dremel 932 bit, the plastic guide helps you maintain the correct angle. Even faster would be a bench grinder, or even an angle grinder, but again you're stuck doing it "free hand," and neither will work well on the curved portion of some blades (usually mulching blades). If your blade doesn't require sharpening along a curve, you might be able to use one of the mower blade grinding attachments that fits a drill, but if you've got a curved portion to the blade (again like mulching blades), those won't work.I have an old Chicago Electric (Harbor Freight) corded "knock-off" of the Dremel tool, and a Ryobi cordless rotary tool. The Chicago Electric will accept this attachment, but the threaded portion of the Ryobi tool is too small for this attachment. That's because the Ryobi needs to use a flexible shaft, much like the Dremel brand flex shaft. So if your only rotary tool is something like that Ryobi, you won't be able to use this attachment, but if it's a clone of the Dremel where the attachments go right into the main body of the tool, which houses the motor and drive shaft, this should work fine.I suggest having two blades for your mower. I have a riding mower, and a push mower, and I keep two blades for both. That way when it's time to sharpen the blades, I can immediately swap out the fresh blades for the ones on the mower, and then I can sharpen at my leisure, instead of needing to immediately sharpen and go back to the mower for replacement.

6 years ago i bought an expensive chain sharpener and never could get it to work consistently. So ive been bringing my chains to the dealer for the job. But last time they ruined 6 good chains. Probably a new employee or something. So i bought more new chains and this item. I cant believe how easy and fast it is. About five minutes and im back in buisness. I have a sthil ms290 18 inch. I love the fact i dont even need to remove the chain. I waited to post to make sure i wasent just getting lucky, but i now have sharpened the same chain four times and still have 75 percent of the tooth left. Looks like i will get 6 or 7 sharpens per chain. I love this tool!!!!!!!

Never used a chainsaw sharpener before and had to go on youtube to search on how these things work. The instructions were a bit lacking on use but the tool itself is great once I figured it all out. The angle guide works well and I like how I can see I can use the tool as a regular Dremel-type tool if I need to so I believe it is multi-use. Overall, for the price, it is great!
Prisha
A little hard to use and get set up, but it works well to sharpen a chain. warning it will not work with clone dremels, it must thread up on the end and clones do not match dremel threads.

A good replacement for my old deburring tool. Working in a machine shop which needs a good tool to get all the sharp burrs off on the machined parts. This tool does that so well. easy installation, took me less than 5 minutes to get it going.
Such a good tool for a cheap price.

I’ve used files for years to sharpen my chains, this thing makes it way easier and faster. I used it for the first time and got a nice clean sharp chain that stayed sharper longer then with a file. The degree reading guard makes it dummy proof.

So far it is great! I have hand filed chains on my saws, and this has gotten my chain just as sharp, but in waaay less time.
Just be sure to follow the correct angle for the chain, use the right grinder wheel, and "get the gullet".
This is EZ for sure!
I will post an update after I have put in a few more hours of grinding and cutting. But so far I am impressed.
Reginald Coffey
I think I will retire my hand file. With the Sharp Pebble Sharpener, I just put the diamond bit plug in the sharpener and within minutes I’ve got a sharp chain!
Billy Mata
I really like this tool for my chainsaw. I needed to buy different sharpening tools for the 3 saws that I have. I felt like Paul Bunyan after I sharpened my Stihl farm boss.
Afsana
This is a gift for my husband. It has different size pieces to sharpen it and seems to be very easy to use.
Enid Lambert
This seems to be a good general purpose grinder body for more than just chainsaw sharpening. I believe Dremel collets and accessories could be used, but haven’t yet had the chance to try them
Ciaron Dawson
Not bad, but not exactly what i expected. Ok for just touching up your saw, if you need a major sharpening get your file out.

So I build fences and decks for a living and sometimes we gotta come in and demolish fences and decks. So we just take a chain saw to them. Well from going into the ground with the chain and hitting nails I would mess up the chain and it gets dull. And I've always hand sharpen the saw with a file but never could get it back sharp so I started looking into tools on how to sharpen a chain saw chain. And this little fellow here is the trick. I took a dull chain and I mean a dull chain that wouldn't cut and I wanted to see if this thing could bring the chain back to life. Needless to stay it took me like 5 mins with this thing and that chain cuts like a brand new chain out the pack. So many chains I threw away after sharpen them one time and all that time I could've just got this tool.. oh yeah I order the little grinding blades to. It come with like 5 or 4 but I ordered extra..
Aaryan Beard
A well put together sharpener. Sharpening my chainsaws will be easier than buying replacement blades ever 2 trees, lol. Only one complain though, a guide on chain sizes would help furniture customers understand what the settings are for, lol. Excellent product though.
Jasleen Gill
If you've ever tried to sharpen a chain saw by hand, you know the challenge of lining things up, changing links and making sure (with some sharpeners) that you approach each blade at the same angle. I've never been sure I'm doing it correctly and thus, when my Stihl gets dull I usually get a new blade rather than mess with sharpening.
This is a portable electric chainsaw sharpener. You can buy a bench mounted chainsaw sharpener for not much more than the cost of this sharpener at Harbor Freight and elsewhere. A bench mounted sharpener does a better job of holding the precise angle, but it takes up space and isn't portable. If you're careful, this will do a good job. Oregon Products makes a variety of fancy bench grinders, but they also sell two grinders very similar to this Sharp Pebble sharpener--one a 12v battery-powered grinder and one a 110v like this one. If you want good directions on using this grinder, search for "Technical Tips: How to Use the Sure Sharp Mini Grinder" and you will find a Youtube video with solid instructions on the Oregon sharpener which work equally well for this grinder.
Overall, a fine little tool that will save you money and make using your chainsaw easier and more enjoyable for many years. Unfortunately, the directions included with this tool don't tell much about technique so, unless you're experienced at sharpening chainsaws you will need to search the internet for a guide. I suggest you try the video I mention above. For those with experience, this little sharpener includes all you need to sharpen your saw.

This tool is ALMOST like a Dremel, but not quite. It is able to turn super slow on its lowest speed and its highest speed is not close to how fast the Dremel can turn. It does NOT have the same power as a Dremel but it uses bits with the same shank size so they are interchangeable. It works really good for sharpening the chainsaw blade, it goes a little faster than doing it manually, but would be a lifesaver if you have a bunch of saws needing serviced. Overall it is a pretty decent tool, and can work as a second small rotary tool if you need one as well.
Elodie Browning
I tried using the guide; but, found it easier to sharpen chains without it in place. Probably because I am a long time chainsaw user and have sharpened many chainsaw chains in my life. I have about 20 chainsaw chains, so I bought this to speed up the sharpening process from using a file. It did not disappoint!
Cadence Findlay
The only thing I didn’t like was you had to keep tightening the jaws . The bar kept sliding out
Paddy Holland
This product did just what we needed to sharpen our saws. Good product and quick delivery.
Israel
None of the bits fit the collette, they all are too small and free spin no matter how much you tighten the holder. The tool itself feels solid and has a lot of power.
Update, the collette was a bad manufacture. Sent a replacement and now it works perfect.
Yaseen Metcalfe
This item arrived much sooner than predicted. It works as described and has been very easy to use sharpening chain saw chains.
Ameena
This works great for sharpening my chainsaw chains. It put a nice sharp edge on the cutters.
Marina Coleman
Excellent tool for touching up chain saw chain while still on the saw.
Jimi Haley
It took a couple runs to get it right. The diamond bits supplied are not near as good as a set of abrasive stone bits. Making that change made a tremendous difference.
Wil Walter
This set has made my blade sharpening a simple repeatable easy task of something that normally is a total pain to deal with ,this is a great purchase and a valued time saver !!!
Lauryn Wheatley
May be ok as a dremel on things that are not precise but doesn't work for a chain due to lack of tolerance. Can't spin the bits straight enough not to ruin a high dollar chain.
Trinity Cochran
No specific instructions.....easy enough to figure out but I'm an industrial manufacturing engineer!

My lawnmower blade was much duller than I thought. After using this, I could hear the "buzzing" sound of the grass being cut because the blade became so sharp. Made a huge difference in the performance of my mower!
Titus Hackett
This is has quickly become my favorite Dremel attachment. I've used it for sharpening chainsaw blades, lawn mower blades and several other outdoor slicing and dicing tools. You get a sharp polished edge in no time.
Sharpening stones aren't indestructible. Treat them kindly and have replacements on hand.
Miles Kabel
Very happy with this kit! Once you get it put together, it works very well. One note: It doesn't work with the 4486 quick chuck -- the chuck is too big. It works with the standard chucks that come with your Dremel though.I haven't used it for anything but sharpening my Stihl chainsaw chain/blade, but it makes the job quick and easy. I've probably sharpened my blade 4 or 5 times with the included grinding stone, and I think I can get nearly that many more before I need to buy more grinding stones. I suspect it would work just as well for other yard tools that need sharpening.
Leon Votaw
I was looking at buying a bench chainsaw blade grinder and they were much more expensive and you have to remove chain to use. Since I already had a Dremel tool, seemed like a good option. I was able to leave the chain on the saw and it only took a few minutes and it made a huge difference. The other bonus is since the Dremel is on batteries, I can sharpen on the spot.
Quinton Hills
It's so easy to sharpen lawn mower blades with this kit. The lawn mower sharpener keeps the Dremel bit touching at almost perfect angle to sharpen a blade. The bit can take material off very fast so it's Important to check the blade for balance after sharpening.I haven't used the chainsaw sharpener, but I'm happy to have that attachment as well. This kit is a great value and should be very useful. The Dremel bit may only last for a few blade sharpens before needing to be replaced. After sharpening 2 blades the bit has a little less grab them it did when fresh.
Roberto Ravencraft
For sharpening mover blades, it's easy to setup and use. For your chain saw chain, you need to pay extra attention to the setup instructions to pick the right shims. It's not Dremel's fault that it is a little complicated to figure out which shims to use. It is more of the different pitch chains that are out there. Once you figure out the right shim(s) to use, it is a GREAT time saver for sharpening your chain. It took me less than 5 minutes to sharpen my chain! It would take me more time to go out and buy one or to go online to order a new one!
Winfred Koenen
After many years of paying someone to mow my lawn, I broke down and bought my own lawn mower. My wife bought for me a Dremel set a few years ago. I needed a way to sharpen my own mower blades and this product appeared to do the trick. Well, it works perfectly. The angle of the grinding is perfect. I am able to sharpen the both ends of the mower blade to the point of being very sharp and straight. I use it once or twice during the mowing season and it works great. I have not done it yet, but I think I will try this on my hedge shears to sharpen them too. I recommend this product.

I was a bit skeptical about these but Dremel makes a really nice, easy-to-use product here. I sharpened my very dull chain saw in a few minutes once I figured out what needed to be sharpened and how. The product does a lot more, sharpening all kinds of garden tools. I haven't tried it on them yet but I expect similar ease of use and efficiency.
Walker Cava
This attaches to the dremel tool in no time, but it does take some assembly for the proper sharpening guide. Once you do that it is very easy to sharpen your chain - much easier than hand filling which is what I have done for years. I found it easier to get a consistent sharpening and unlike commercial sharpening it doesn't get the chain too hot which can ruin the temper of the steel of the chain. So far I like it!
Mckinley Lay
I've never been much good sharpening my saw chain with a round file, so when I saw this attachment being used on Youtube, I bought a Dremel tool just so I could use this attachment. Wow, I've finally got a really sharp chain after only a few minutes of sharpening time. My chain saw mentor, who used to work as a logger on a tree ranch, tried it out and loves it too. I haven't tried the other attachments for blades, etc. If you want the chain saw attachment you have to get the rest.
Emilio Sharpless
My neighbor recommended this for the chainsaw a lot quicker to sharpen chainsaws can't wait to try it definitely going to be sharpening my lawn mower blades and my pruners easy to use fits on most Dremel tools
Duncan Madeiros
takes a few minutes to put together but it is easy to use and you don't have to remove the chain! I bought two so I would have one for different chains. if not you have to take it apart and put it together for different chains. Be careful. you can easily ruin a chain if you get too aggressive.
